There are many ways that we can use to express reason, purpose, cause, and result. Each time we need to express them, we need certain words that usually called conjunctions such as because, as, since, because of, so (that), and as a result. Different conjunction connects different kind of statements. For instance, because and because of seems alike but have similar use but followed by different structure of sentence. Because is always followed by complete package of sentence (because+S+V(be)) while because of is always followed by gerund (Verb 1 + ing that is functioned as Noun).

since itu bisa berarti sejak, semenjak (sebagai preposisi/kata depan) dan karena (sebagai konjungsi/kata hubung).

- menara BIM telah berdiri sejak tahun 2000
- dia tidak menghadiri rapat karena sakit
as bisa berarti sebagai, seperti, selama, sambil, seraya (sbg preposisi/kata depan) dan karena (sbg konjungsi/kata hubung).

- karena aku tidak tahu tentang hal tersebut, aku tidak berkata apapun
- aku melihat sebuah perahu selama aku berjalan di seberang sungai
